Car Overheating Diagnosis & Repair
CAR OVERHEATING?
ENGINE OVERHEATING DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
There are many different causes of an engine overheating. Whatever the cause, the engine is overheating because something inside the cooling system is preventing transportation or release of heat. Here are a few common causes for your vehicle overheating:
RADIATOR MALFUNCTION
Overheating could be due to a radiator clog, leaks, or a fan malfunction. A malfunctioning radiator can restrict or stop heat from properly escaping your vehicle, which will in turn cause the temperature to rise. We will be able to diagnose exactly what’s wrong with your radiator and repair the problem.
WATER PUMP FAILURE
The water pump, as the name implies, helps pump and propel engine coolant throughout your cooling system. Any issue associated with the water pump can lead to an overheating engine. Common water pump problems include leaks, shifting of the pump shaft, or eroded impeller vanes.
THERMOSTAT STUCK
A broken thermostat might be stuck in the closed position, causing the engine to warm up – and then keep going. No matter how hot the engine gets, the coolant is unable to pass through. This is a real problem and can cause your engine to overheat rapidly.
If your car is overheating, ignoring the problem can cause your engine or cooling system to fail. Don’t ever think that the engine will be okay if your temperature gauge spikes.
