- LB7 Fuel Injector Failure: The LB7 uses a 23,000psi rail and a Bosch CP3 injection pump to directly inject fuel into the cylinders. This requires high pressure, which sometimes the Duramax injectors cannot handle, resulting in cracks and leakage of fuel and air.
- Solution: A Duramax mechanic removes rockers to access the fuel injectors and rebuilds them.
- Snapped Crankshaft: High horsepower Duramax engine’s crankshaft breaks due to excessive rpm and the sizeable external counterweight. This means your truck will not work unless the crankshaft is replaced.
- Solution: A Duramax mechanic can replace it with a more robust and affordable unit such as Compstar forged crankshaft.
